Learning stepped beyond the classroom walls as students took part in Lakbay Aral: Journey to the Wild, an educational activity organized through the collaboration of the Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center (PWRCC) and the Information and Education Campaign (IEC) Unit of PENRO Palawan. The event was held on March 6, 2026, at Brgy. Irawan PPC–PWRCC in celebration of World Wildlife Day and Crocodile Conservation Week.

The activity brought together students for an afternoon filled with environmental learning, interactive discussions, and fun educational experiences aimed at strengthening awareness about wildlife conservation.

The program featured informative talks on wildlife conservation, including “Wildlife Matters: Understanding World Wildlife Day”, as well as presentations about protecting wildlife and learning about migratory birds found in Puerto Princesa. Film viewings also helped students better understand the importance of caring for animals and their habitats.

Aside from classroom-style discussions, students were given the opportunity to explore parts of the rescue center and observe some of the wildlife species being cared for at the facility. The visit allowed them to learn about the rehabilitation process for rescued animals and the conservation programs implemented by the center, particularly those involving crocodile conservation.

Building Young Environmental Stewards Through Education

The Lakbay Aral activity forms part of the continuing environmental education efforts of the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) and partner agencies to promote awareness about wildlife protection among young learners. By engaging students through interactive and experiential learning, the organizers hope to inspire a new generation of environmental stewards who will actively support conservation initiatives.

Through activities like Lakbay Aral: Journey to the Wild, students were reminded that protecting wildlife is a shared responsibility—and that even small actions can make a meaningful difference in preserving the rich biodiversity of Palawan for future generations.
