Empowering Tomorrow’s Environmental Leaders

On August 26 and 27, in collaboration with Sta. Monica National High School the DENR-Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office conducted an impactful lecture series to its Grade 9 and Grade 10 students, focusing on empowering the next generation to take action for the planet.

With the theme "Leading with Purpose: Youth-Driven Solutions for Climate Change and Community", this environmental lecture series targeted the members of the Youth for Environment in Schools Organizations (YES-O Club) to take action and dive into the world of being an Environmental Leaders. The lectures not only aligned with the school’s commitment to environmental advocacy but also coincided with International Youth Day celebration, which highlights the importance of youth engagement in shaping a more sustainable world.

Planning Officer I Precy M. Obrique kicked off the series with a lecture on marine debris, highlighting its harmful effects on oceans and marine life, while Ms. Edelyn T. Loren followed up with a discussion on environmental leadership, encouraging students to take on roles as advocates for sustainability in their communities. The lectures were part of the celebration of International Youth Day, emphasizing the critical role young people play in creating a greener and cleaner environment for the future.

Through engaging presentations and discussions, the students were empowered with the knowledge and tools to drive change in their schools and communities, making this event a vital step toward empowering future environmental leaders.
