The event began with an audio-visual presentation (AVP) that provided an overview of the task force’s goals — focusing on marine protection, inter-agency collaboration, and sustainable resource management. The event was graced by the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources (PENR) Officer of DENR Palawan, who served as the guest of honor and keynote speaker. In his stirring message, he emphasized the grave responsibility of environmental protection in today’s world.
“Protecting the environment is one of the toughest challenges we have faced, we are facing now, and will continue to face in the years to come. What is more challenging is, we have to protect it from us—humans,” he said.
He added, “It’s the love and the determination that we carry inside us. It’s that stubborn hope that maybe, our efforts will be enough to save even a part of what we love.” With these words, he underscored not just the urgency, but also the emotional drive behind conservation efforts.
During the launch, representatives from the academe, local government units, non-government organizations, and other environmental stewards also stepped forward to pledge their commitment to the cause. Their support signaled a collective effort to safeguard marine life and ensure sustainable coastal development through education, research, enforcement, and community engagement.
With strong inter-agency backing and public support, Task Force Ingat Yamang Dagat marks a promising stride toward a resilient and sustainably protected marine environment — a legacy of stewardship for future generations.
