On June 10, 2025, DENR-PENRO Palawan conducted a tree planting and roadside cleanup activity along DENR-PENRO Road, in Puerto Princesa City. The event was led by PENRO Felizardo Cayatoc and the CENR Officers (CENROs) of Puerto Princesa, Roxas,Taytay, Brooke’s Point, Quezon, and Coron.
A total of 69 Balayong trees were successfully planted along the roadsides of the PENRO compound, Provincial Department of Health (DOH) office, and CENRO Puerto Princesa premises. These saplings are expected to not only enhance the area’s aesthetic appeal but also contribute to biodiversity, air purification, and climate resilience in the years to come.
The cleanup component of the activity targeted visible litter and waste materials that pose threats to the environment. Armed with gloves, sacks, and a shared sense of purpose, DENR personnel and partner offices took part in clearing the roadside of debris—demonstrating that environmental responsibility begins with individual action.
During his message, PENRO Felizardo Cayatoc emphasized the deeper meaning behind these seemingly simple tasks.
"Picking up litter may seem simple, but every piece collected is one less threat to our ecosystems. Planting a tree may feel small, but each one contributes to the legacy of a healthier planet," he stated.
His words captured the essence of DENR’s work over the past 38 years—quiet, consistent actions that cumulatively protect and preserve the country’s natural wealth. As the agency continues to face the challenges of climate change, deforestation, and environmental degradation, activities like these serve as both a celebration and a call to action.
The simultaneous tree planting and cleanup activity not only commemorated the agency’s milestone year but also symbolized the ongoing journey toward a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Palawan.
With each Balayong tree rooted in the soil, DENR-PENRO Palawan reaffirms its promise: to grow with nature, serve the people, and stand as a guardian of the land—one tree, one clean street, one act at a time.
