DENR PENRO Palawan Supports BS Social Work Students in their project “Safe Spaces, Happy Faces: Upgrading the Dining Area for Little Learners”

In a collaborative effort aimed to enhance the safety, well-being, and comfort of children at the Brilliant Child Development Center, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) recently donated eco-friendly paints to support the Safe Spaces, Happy Faces project. The project was an initiative led by BS Social Work students.

As part of the office’s support for the project, DENR PENRO provided four gallons of paints, along with eight brushes and two paint rollers. This contribution was important to the transformation process since it allowed the students to paint the walls with bright colors to brighten-up the dining area and give a more comfortable atmosphere to the children.

The project officially concluded with a turnover ceremony on December 16, 2024  held at Brilliant Child Development Center, Barangay Maunlad, PPC., marking the successful completion of the project transformation. The ceremony was attended by the BS Social Work students, faculty, Forester Arjay T. Gregas to represent the DENR PENRO Palawan, and the school’s staff and students. During the event, the students showcased the newly renovated dining area, which was met with enthusiasm and gratitude from the school community.

The Safe Spaces, Happy Faces initiative serves as a reminder of the beneficial impacts that a well planned learning environment can have on children's educational achievement and general well-being. It also demonstrates the power of collaborations to create significant change.
