DENR-PENRO JOINS IN CELEBRATING THE 35TH NATIONAL STATISTICS MONTH

The IEC Unit together with PENRO Felizardo B. Cayatoc participated in the motorcade and opening ceremony of the 35th National Statistics Month celebration with this year’s theme “Advancing Data and Statistics Through Digital Transformation: A Road to an Empowered Nation” on October 1, 2024.

The motorcade started at the Baywalk grounds 8:00 o’clock in the morning which was spearheaded by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and participated by different government agencies and academe such as the Provincial Agriculture Office, Provincial Capitol, Palawan State University staffs, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), TESDA, and DICT Palawan and concluded at the WPU PPC Campus where the opening ceremony was held. 

The program started with welcoming remarks from Ria Sariego, Phd. the Vice President for Administration and Finance, followed by an opening message of Ms. Evelyn O. Apellido the Supervising Statistical Specialist  PSO-Palawan. “Statistics are not just numbers, they are important tools that guide critical decisions that help education, economic and other sectoral development for the use of accurate and timely data. We can identify needs or gaps, allocate resources more effectively, efficiently and we can implement programs that truly make a difference to the lives of the citizens…” said Ms. Sharlene D. Vilches, EnP. Chairperson, Provincial Statistics Committee, in the message she delivered during the program. 

The National Statistics Month is celebrated annually in accordance with Presidential Proclamation No. 647, "Declaring the Month of October of Every Year as the National Statistics Month," which was issued by then-President Corazon C. Aquino in September 1990.
