IPILAN NICKEL, DENR, LOCAL COMMUNITIES SIGN MOA FOR FOREST RESTORATION
The Ipilan Nickel Corporation (INC) has recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources - Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR-PENRO) Palawan, local communities from the selected barangays of Brooke’s Point, Bataraza, Española, and 136 family beneficiaries on August 8, 2024, Training Hall of CENRO Brooke’s Point.

The partnership aims to plant about 1,450,319 seedlings across an indicated land area of 879.04 hectares, which will help restore and expand forest areas, benefiting the local ecosystem and regional biodiversity. The program will also help address the prevalent forest degradation, help in climate change mitigation, and enhance ecosystem services to surrounding communities.
The MOA outlines the precise and separate obligations and responsibilities of each partner in the implementation of INC's tree replacement plan and program, this is to support the National Greening Program (NGP) of the DENR. This marks the beginning of a fruitful partnership between the organizations towards forest restoration in Palawan.
