DENR PALAWAN CONDUCTED CEPA ACTIVITY ON MANGROVE PROTECTION AND ENVIRONMENTAL LAWS
In line with the celebration of International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem, PENRO Palawan and CENRO Puerto Princesa, in partnership with Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and MAMSAR Construction and Industrial Corporation conducted a Communication, Education, and Public Awareness (CEPA) Activity on Mangrove Protection and other Environmental Laws at Barangay Tagpait, Aborlan, Palawan on July 31, 2024.

A total of forty-five (45) individuals compromised of residents and local officials of Barangay Tagpait participated in the activity. The guest speakers from DENR Palawan were warmly welcomed by the Barangay Captain, Hon. Dante Obar. In his welcome message he expressed his gratitude for conducting the activity in their Barangay as it gives them opportunities to learn Mangrove protection and provides an avenue for their queries regarding land problems in their community.
During the activity, DENR Information and Plastic Pollution were discussed by For. Jessie Escandalo, where he points out the problems about plastics and solutions the residents can do to deal with it. The following topics were also discussed: PD705 by Forester Arjay T. Gregas, Permits and DAO 97-32 - Process of Apprehension by For. Zenaida Calalin, CRM and Mangrove Ecosystem by Ms. Joy Tanay, Proper Planting of Mangrove and other forest trees by Arlene Basaya, Salient Feature of Mining Act RA 7942, Basic Permits and other related Acts by MGB Specialist Engr. Angelia Evita Ramos, and Presentation on PD 1586 by Engr. Mark Rogel.
After all the discussions, the participants and the speakers had an open forum where questions from the residents were entertained and answered.
