The DENR-PENRO Palawan in full force, headed by PENRO Felizardo B. Cayatoc, took part in the successful celebration of the 31st Pista Y’ Ang Cagueban with the theme, “Tayo ang Kalikasan: Pagpapalago ng mas Luntiang Kinabukasan” at Barangay Montible, Puerto Princesa City on June 29, 2024.  

Pista Y’ Ang Cagueban or the Pista ng Kagubatan is an annual festive reforestation activity in Puerto Princesa where the populace not only from the City but the whole Palawan gather to celebrate the feast and take part in planting trees. This year, thousands of citizens which came from different organizations, Government and Non-government Organizations, students from all levels of different schools and universities, famous personalities in politics, dignitaries, and individuals from all walks of life took part in planting more than 10,000 seedlings of Apitong, Alalud, Basa, Batino, Bayog, Bolong-eta, Ipil, Kamagong, Lumaraw, Malabayabas, Malakatmon, Mountain Agoho, Pasi, Putian, Sahing and Burawis in the 5.5 hectares of the planting site. 

This activity shows the cooperation and harmony of everyone in protecting and conserving the environment towards a greener future. Moreover, a better place to live in, a greener and healthier environment is one of the few things we can give as a gift to ourselves in the present time, and a green legacy we can leave for future generations.
