PHILIPPINE ARBOR DAY

320 seedlings were successfully planted during the celebration of Philippine Environment Month and Philippine Arbor Day 2024 at Barangay Montible, Puerto Princesa City.

On June 25, 2024, the force of DENR-PENRO Palawan, CENRO Puerto Princesa, and EMB-PEMU jointly conducted a Tree Planting activity in commemoration of the Philippine Environment Month and Philippine Arboy Day 2024 at the graduated National Greening Program (NGP) site located within Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) along Km. 25, Barangay Montible, Puerto Princesa City.

A total of three hundred twenty (320) seedlings, of which one hundred seventy-three (173) were Narra and one hundred forty-seven (147) were Ipil, were successfully planted in 0.6 hectares, or 6,000 square meters of the area. The activity gathered two hundred twenty-three (223) eco-warriors which came from different government and non-government organizations, including the DENR MIMAROPA ARD for Technical Services Division, ARD Maximo Landrito, PENRO Palawan led by PENRO Felizardo Cayatoc, CENRO Puerto Princesa, EMB-PEMU, Uniformed Personnel, students, and other citizens whose dedicated to take part in protecting, conserving, and saving the environment. 

The entire month of June every year was declared as Philippine Environment Month under the Proclamation No. 237 series of 1988 approved by the late President Corazon Aquino. The objective of this month-long celebration is to heighten the environmental consciousness among Filipinos towards the protection, enhancement, and development of the country's environment.
