In line with the celebration of World Oceans Day with the theme, “Waves of Change: Collective Actions for the Ocean” highlighting the importance of working together to solve ocean-related challenges, the DENR-PENRO Palawan personnel headed by PENRO Felizardo B. Cayatoc, representatives from CENRO Roxas, CENRO Taytay, CENRO Coron, CENRO Puerto Princesa, CENRO Quezon, CENRO Brooke's Point, EMB-PEMU, City ENRO in partnership with the SM Puerto Princesa Community and the Barangay Bagong Silang residents and Barangay Officials actively participated in the simultaneous SM Coastal Clean-up: New Waves of Impact at Purok Isdang Bato, Bgy. Bagong Silang, Puerto Princesa City on June 7, 2024.
The activity was also graced by the presence of MGB Regional Director, Felizardo Gacad, Jr.. He once again reminded everyone to stay true to our actions and words in fighting the problem of plastic waste.
With the amazing participation of 186 eco-warriors volunteers a total of 102 kilos of waste composed of plastic sachets, plastic bottles, and other non-biodegradable wastes were collected. Aside from collecting trash from the coastal areas and esteros they also threw 350 mud balls that purify raw water at the seaside of Purok Isdang Bato.
More than just collecting trash, the Coastal Cleanup event was a proactive move toward a healthier, cleaner future for our world.
