Background of the Office

By the virtue of Executive Order 192, s. 1987 signed by the late President Corazon C. Aquino providing for the reorganization of the Department of Environment, Energy and Natural Resources, renaming it as the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and for other purposes, PENRO Palawan was formed and holds responsible in planning, organizing, implementation, control and/or update and create plans and program for the protection, conservation and proper use of environment and natural resources of Palawan, enforcement of rules and regulation specially law related to the environmental protection and performed other duties assigned by the higher official of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Palawan is headed by PENR Officer Juan C. Dela Cruz that has administrative jurisdiction over six (6) Community Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO) consist of CENRO-Puerto Princesa, CENRO-Roxas, CENRO-Taytay, CENRO-Coron, CENRO-Quezon, CENRO-Brooke’s Point and it has an extension office at municipality of Narra ,Palawan. PENRO Palawan linked the offices other agencies for an effective and efficient implementation of rules and regulation which is the primary concerned is protecting, conserving and proper management of environment and natural resources.

MANDATE

The Department is the primary agency responsible for the conservation, management, development and proper use of the country’s environment and natural resources, specifically forest and grazing lands , mineral resources, including those in reservation and watershed areas, and lands of the public domain as well as the licensing and regulation of all natural resources as may be provided for by law in order to ensure equitable sharing of the benefits derived thereform for the of the present and future generations of Filipinos.

AREAS OF JURISDICTION

PENRO Palawan jurisdiction over six (6) Community Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO) consist of CENRO-Puerto Princesa, CENRO-Roxas, CENRO-Taytay, CENRO-Coron, CENRO-Quezon, CENRO-Brooke’s Point and it has an extension office at municipality of Narra ,Palawan.

DIVISIONS

The organizational structure of PENRO Palawan shall consists Two (2) Division; Management Services Division which handles Administrative/ Personnel Service Section, Accounting, Budget, Cashier and Planning Section. While the Technical Services Division supervises Protected Areas, Wildlife and Coastal Management Services (PAWCZMS), Forestry Management Services (FMS) and Land Management Services.
Both division also extends its services to different CENROs and its stakeholders.
